Meanwhile, Betis suffered a Copa del Rey exit at the same stage on account of a 1-0 loss at Alaves, before returning to winning ways in La Liga as Manuel Pelegrini's side came into the tie on the back of a 1-0 victory against Granada.

Real Betis vs Barcelona kick-off time & stadium

Date: January 21, 2024

Kick-off time: 5:30 pm GMT

Venue: Benito Villamarin

The La Liga match between Real Betis and Barcelona will be played at the Benito Villamarin Stadium in Seville, Spain.

It will kick off at 5:30 pm GMT on Sunday, January 21, in the United Kingdom (UK).

Pellegrini will not be able to call upon the services of Aitor Ruibal, Ayoze Perez and Hector Bellerin on account of injuries, while Juan Miranda, Guido Rodriguez, Claudio Bravo and Marc Bartra emerge as doubts.

Youssouf Sabaly (Senenal), Chadi Riad and Abde Ezzalzouli (both Morocco) are on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Pablo Busto and Assane Diao are set to replace the injured Perez and Ruibal respectively, while Sokratis Papastathopoulos continues at center-back, with Willian Jose upfront.

Back from their bans, Ronald Araujo and Lamine Yamal would return to the XI, although all of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Andreas Christensen, Joao Cancelo, Marcos Alonso, Inigo Martinez, Gavi and Raphinha are set to remain sidelined through injuries.

Expected changes from the Copa del Rey game can see the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Robert Lewandowski and Pedri back in action, with Ferran Torres also likely to be given the nod over Joao Felix.

After a win in the Copa Del Rey midweek, Barcelona have a chance to put their loss in the Spanish Super Cup behind them by shifting their away form to knock off Real Betis in La Liga play. It has been a tough week for manager Xavi but with Barcelona now eight points behind Girona in first place, Barca don't have much room for error at the moment.

After ending a four-match winless run, Betis will now return home facing Barcelona at a good time. Behind the good form of Isco, Betis have been able to hang around the European places in La Liga but they also need the points in this one being four points behind Real Sociedad in sixth place. As true contenders are starting to separate from the pack, Betis will want to not find themselves in the middle not playing for anything.

Still without Raphina and Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Barcelona will have to dig deep in the match. Joao Cancelo could return from his knee injury which would boost the attack but with Barcelona's underperformance as of late, they need their front three to round into form quickly.

On the other hand, the azulgrana club, led by the Spaniard, Xavi Hernandez, has had a rather irregular balance in this first half of the season since in LaLiga, they started well, but no better than Girona and Real Madrid who are currently the leaders of the Spanish league and lead by 8 points to the fourth place which is occupied by Barcelona.

In the local league, the Barcelona accumulates 41 points that has it in the fourth site of the classification (by goal difference) recording 12 wins, 5 draws and 2 defeats. In the other tournament disputed, the Champions League, the culé team managed to qualify as first in the group to settle in the round of 16 where they will face the Italians Napoli.

However, despite having qualified for the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey, the Catalan team is coming from a difficult moment such as the elimination of the Supercopa against Real Madrid with a drubbing, so if they want to continue climbing positions, they need a victory.

Real Betis won their first La Liga game in six last weekend, via a 1-0 victory over neighbours Granada, but Manuel Pellegrini will look to make changes. Ayoze Perez is set to miss out through injury, alongside Hector Bellerin and Guido Rodriguez, with Assane Diao and Nabil Fekir set to start.
